Agham C. Cuevas, PhD

for Academic Affairs
Agham C. Cuevas holds a Ph.D. in Economics degree from the UP School of Economics, University of the Philippines-Diliman. He is currently the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Before his appointment as Vice Chancellor, he was Dean of the College of Economics and Management, UPLB from 2019 to 2023. He has been teaching at the UPLB Department of Economics for the past 28 years where he holds the rank of full professor. He has more than 20 years experience as an economist conducting economic analysis/modeling, and project impact analysis and assessment. He has also co-authored several basic economics textbooks for the high school and college levels. He is currently the president of the Philippine Economic Society, the country’s premiere organization for economists and allied professionals.
Charina Gracia B. Banaay, PhD
Assistant to the Vice Chancellor
for Academic Affairs
Dr. Banaay is a Professor of Microbial Ecology at the Environmental Biology Division, Institute of Biological Sciences and a Diplomate of the Philippine Academy of Microbiology. She has served the University in various capacities for the last 22 years. She was the former IBS Instruction Coordinator and Research Coordinator, CAS Socials Committee Head, CAS Research Committee Chair and Organizer of one of the CAS Student-Faculty Research Conferences held annually, and Division Head of the Environmental Biology Division. She is a recipient of the 2003 DA Secretary’s Award, 2007 NAST Outstanding Scientific Paper Award, 2008 CSC Pagasa Award, 2011 UPLB Academic Excellence Award, and the 2021 Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award.
